Three other groups of Meridian survivors are scattered across the continent. Commander Harlan Drake's colony 800 kilometers west has taken a radically different approach — strip-mining, weaponizing alien biology, treating the Thrum as hostile fauna. When Drake discovers Colony Zero and its relationship with the network, he sees a resource or threat. Ava must defend her colony, protect Thrum territories, and attempt diplomacy with humans who view the planet as something to conquer.
