The feral core is dead, but reveals dungeon cores are manufactured, seeded by an unknown intelligence. Marcus's compact with the Guild makes Stonemarrow a research site. Two new cores awaken within 100 miles. One is feral and expanding; the other is sapient, confused, and reaching out to Marcus. He must protect the newborn core, fight the feral one, and navigate politics while uncovering the true purpose of dungeon cores.
