The machine activates. The dungeon cores were built as a distributed planetary life-support system by a pre-human intelligence. Feral cores lost their operators and reverted to autonomous mode. Marcus is what cores were supposed to be: thinking managers. But the system is failing. Marcus must unite every sapient core, convince the Guild dungeons are infrastructure, and coordinate planetary restoration.
